Doctors warn dialysis patients to keep alert

Patient education is the key to preventing the accidental death of dialysis patients, according to Maryland’s Chief Medical Examiner Dr. David Fowler.
Officials with the state’s Office of Health Care Quality Assurance and the Baltimore City Health Department issued an alert after it was noted that more than two dozen residents had died from blood loss around the site where a device is inserted for dialysis treatment.
