Retired judge leads active, colorful life, in court and on TV

In a recent plea hearing, Judge V.J. Femia asked a 19-year-old defendant if his guilty plea would constitute a violation of probation in any unrelated criminal case.

The man — facing 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of marijuana with intent to distribute — mentioned a relatively minor driving while suspended case.
